If all the nursing homes were to close how could you serve the elderly other then a nursing home situation?

I like the old eskimo tradition. Once an elderly person no longer was useful to the society, the people put them on an ice-flow and set them adrift. Freezing to death is a relatively easy way to die, and it was socially acceptable to do this. The need to get rid of a burden to the community outweighed the rights of the individual to continue living.

If all the nursing homes were shut down the hospitals and funeral homes would be over booked. Those guys are there because of a medical need not as a retirement center. They can’t deal with the sick.
This won’t happen as it would cost the gov even more than the nursing homes.

I’m not sure how to read your question. Are you saying you’re a CNA and have no one to work for or would not have anyone to work for if the nursing homes closed? Well then you’d do HHA live-in work for the same people.

If you’re saying that your loved one was/is in a nursing home and what would happen if the nursing home closed then I’d say either find another one for them, or find them a place to live and have a CNA or HHA come in on a fairly often basis while you visit daily. If you own a home you can get one of those in-law suites (I think they are about $10,000) either attached to your home or somewhat away from your home in the back yard (so to speak) so that person would be close to you so you can check in on them frequently and visit and so they can have visitors like relatives stop by as well.
